Diving deep despite the dread…

I get it.

You want to meditate but you don’t feel like you have the time. You feel like other things take precedence. And until you’re able to achieve those things, you haven’t earned the break, to rest, to breathe, to meditate.

What if I told you, not only do you the break but meditating itself is make or break.

Or maybe you’re afraid that meditating won’t work because of all the things going on in your mind. You won’t be focused, so why bother?

So you keep putting it off.

You wake up in the morning and instead of popping up to begin your morning routine, you lay there in dread. Loathing yourself, your life, and the day ahead.

What if I told you the reason you do that is because you do not meditation?

What if I told you, meditation would fix all of that?

What if I told you, meditation is in fact the horse before the cart, and without it, the cart either sits there or you’re pulling it on your own back?

Meditation invites the energy and clarity needed to clear the path for a life you actually enjoy. Meditation helps organize scattered thoughts. It brings peace and quiet to your soul, thus giving you the clarity to do those things in front of you that you hate with ease and abandon. This way you can get to the parts of life you love more quickly and with more permanence.

I get it.

Deciding to meditate isn’t easy. I struggled with it this morning too. I laid in the bed for 2 hours judging myself and my heavy emotions. But when I did it, when I got up, showered, had my coffee and sat in silence, gradually I was refueled. I chose to dive deep despite the dread.

And now I have the peace, clarity and energy to charge through my day. I don’t even remember feeling down.

I feel happy, clear and free. Meditating melted all those negative emotions away. And the things I dread doing came easy from there. And doing those dreaded tasks quickly cleared the way for me to do the things I love and that align with my mission here.

I get it.

Meditation is hard. Meditation is necessary. Those who prioritize it win.

Here are three of my fave guided meditations:

Gratitude

Womb Healing

Shelah Marie’s Serious Day Dreaming

But sometimes I prefer just sitting in silence.

Also note: Prayer + meditation can be separate or the same thing. You can use the meditation of morning silence to enter into prayer. I tend to pray naturally throughout the daily, keeping conversation open with God. And in the mornings, or when I am feeling anxious, I pause and simply meditate on and as a way to invite the things I am needing into my life, which is essentially what prayer is, but more intentional and physical in nature. It’s really up to you what routine you choose. Make it yours.
